Spiderman Origins Wave 2

Spiderman Origins Series 2

Doctor Octopus
Demogoblin
Mysterio
Rhino
Spiderman

Retail: $7.99

Overall: N/A

Repaints.

Recommendation:
Every figure is a repaint from Toy Biz' line of Spiderman Classics, or other line. As such, I cannot fairly give Hasbro credit for something they did not do. Nor can I recommend purchasing what you probably already have. There is absolutely no need to pick these up, unless you missed them the first time; or, like the color variants (esp. Demogoblin).

Re: Spiderman Origins Wave 2

Hey I hate to be on a bad news wagon, But I picked up Doc Octopus and demogoblin , I found both to be very fragile. Compared to there marvel legends and spidey figures they are not nearly as strong. Doc. Oc's legs are ment to hold the wieght of his tenticles but this figures legs are way to loose compared to the legends . Demogoblins waste was loose right out of the packageing it took years for hobgoblin to become even close to that.

Spidey 2099 was the only figure I bought that made it worth while and the only reason is because he was tight........no pun...... and his paint was nice .

I've seen most of these in stores and I'm def. not impressed. The Rhino and Mysterio were the only figures that really caught my eye. This line just seems really underwhelming at this point. I can't in good conscience buy the 2099 figure because that is a time I don't want to remember. What a horrible couple of years for comics that was.

If they werent Toy Biz' figures repainted, resculpted to be looser and, just all around typical of Hasbro, I would have actually liked these figures. And, as much as I liked the hobgoblin version, I do like the Demogoblin colors better. But, just not enough to pay $8 for it.

If the rumors are true, and I have no doubt they are, we really won't be seeing anything exciting for a long time to come. The rumor? Hasbro offered to buy any left over Toy Biz stock from retailers. Translation: Many many years of repaints, reissues, and borrowed body parts for "new" and not improved figures.

Well, I caved and bought the Rhino 'Origins' fig anyways. At least the packaging was new and his repaint was well done. I also grabbed a few of the new ML. They looked pretty good for the first time out. ToyBiz's Series one wasn't the greatest either and I owned all them at one time. So, I figured, what the heck. I bought Ultimate IM, Herc, Emma, and Planet Hulk. The Beast figure would give me nightmares like the clown in 'Poltergeist' and Banshee looks like he's in special ed. I'll probably pass on them totally. I'd rather spend my cash on that Thor 'Icon'.

Well, the Rhino, even tho you have it 3x already, makes sense. But, no way I could compare TB wave 1 with hasbro wave 1. Sure, Toad looked nothing like any carnation of Toad; but, it had it's strengths. And, the sweet base it came with was most excellent.

I think I am just extremely disappointed, because I know what these looked like and it was sweeeeeet! Im also disappointed, as a few members here have indicated, remembering paying $5.95 for Spiderman Classics and Marvel Legends, and getting so much more than we paid for; and now, we are paying so much more than we are getting.

One thing I keep meaning to holler about, is Hasbro's brilliance in action. They place the Marvel stamps on the front, where it can be seen. Who the heck cares that it's a Marvel product, and that it was made in China in 2006? (Well, I do; but, the point is, I want to see it on the feet, or in the back, where I dont have to see it).
And, I do like the little bio they do on the characters. It helps people who collect, but dont know who certain characters (like Planet Hulk).

Re: Spiderman Origins Wave 2

I bought the Iron Spider-Man figure today. I really like the gleam and polish of the figure. The suit itself is really dumb. Who comes up with this crap?

I picked up Demogoblin since I didn't have a Hobgoblin. He does rock. And I got a black costume Spidey to keep my stoked for his appearance in the movie coming out next summer. I returned Spidey 2099 because that sculpt re-uses a mold with lousy articulation below the waist. His legs don't move much from his wide stance. You won't even be able to get him to stand within the base that's included with him. If I wanted unarticulated figures I'ld shop the McFarlane aisle. I might buy an Iron Man Spidey if I find him. I'm getting a little Iron Manned out though.

You did good with Demogoblin. I cant say I hate that figure. TB did an outstanding job on it. I do like the paint scheme with the Hasbro version. I cant deal with repaints, any longer. No more room. Otherwise, I might have kept DemoG. If someone doesn't have the HobG., I would recommend this one.
but, be sure, Hasbro will undoubtedly release 10,000 variant repaints.

Re: Spiderman Origins Wave 2

i picked up the iron spidey and im real scared to move him. his legs dont exactly move easy it almost seems like its the paint that inhibits the movement. either way im too nervous about breaking him, but he does look cool standin there.

I really like my TB Hobgoblin. As for the Demogoblin I've seen them in stores recently with the hood completely covering his face. Who would want that?
