I was onboard with Tobey, because I have always considered him a geek/nerd. So, he was, in my opinion, perfect for the role. Of course, as pointed out, he was rather old for the role, initially, but, because they didn't spend the time in high school, they were able to move forward, and age was not really at issue. And, he did the role of both Parker and Spiderman perfectly.
