SDCC: Toy Biz Marvel Legends report

Marvel Legends Captain America

Toy Biz had just a small table at the San Diego Comic Con, but the buzz coming from that little table was second to none at the show.

First, some new figures were on display that we had never seen before, such as the Ghost Rider repaint, mohawk Storm, Ultimate Lizard, Phasing Vision, Black Panther, Bullseye and Doctor Strange. Strange, Bullseye and Black Panther are targeted for ML series 9 and 10. Lizard is heading to the Spider-Man Classics line.

We also learned that Toy Biz is planning on 'rebooting' the Marvel Legends line with series 9! What this means exactly wasn't revealed, though Jesse Falcon who heads up the line told us that we'd find out come Toy Fair 2005.

Jesse also told us that they have no plans for more multi-packs (like the Fantastic Four set) beyond what's already been announced; however, if retailer interest is high enough, it could very well happen that they put together another compilation, as the slight remolds necessary for such a pack are a much less time consuming process than scupting an original figure from scratch.

And finally, we got confirmed lineup information for Marvel Legends series 7 & 8. Series 8 will include exclusive, character-dedicated Marvel Vs. System Trading Cards with variant art!

We've got a lot to look forward to over the rest of the year with the Marvel Legends line, and a lot of time to speculate on what the 'reboot' of the line might entail. I look forward to reading what you think on our forums!
