Review- Spider-man Classics Scorpion

sidermanClassicsScorpion.jpg Man, what a great figure!

Besides Sandman, I think this was my most wanted Spidey villain and this guy doesn't disappoint!

He has pretty standard articulation with a few flaws

Flaw - 1 - Neck joint is a swivel joint rather than a ball-joint. (Or at least only has the range of motion of such.)
2 - Ball-jointed shoulders
2 - Bicep swivels
2 - Double-elbow hinge joints
2 - Wrist swivels
2 - Wrist hinges
2 - Finger hinges
Flaw- 1 - Torso swivel
1 - Waist swivel
2 - Ball hips
2 - Thigh swivels
2 - Double knee hinge joints
2 - Calf swivels
Flaw - 2 - Ankle hinges
2 - Toe hinges
1 - Rubber bendy tail with wire inside to hold shape

Action features:
Scorpion comes with three missles that shoot from the end of his bendy tail. This is activated by a small button located near the end of the tail. The missle-firing action is spring loaded.

Accessories:
Scorpion comes with three missles for the action features and also a "crumpling action" newspaper stand. The newspaper stand has a button on it than when pressed or shot by a missle it causes the stand to crumple. By pulling on the top and bottom portions of the stand, it can be straightened again.

The only reason I listed the 3 flaws that I did is because they are things that could have been done better. I especially would have liked to have seen a ball-jointed neck. The ankles i actually prefer with just a hinge, but, I made them red since so many others seem to prefer ball-jointed ankles on their figures. I also think that we could have used a better torso joint like the Silver Surfer torso rather than the torso swivel.

All in all, I LOVE this guy's sculpt! He looks just big enough to be menacing and strong, but, he is also lanky enough to really look like an agile villain. Just the way Scorpion should be!

The bendy tail is plenty long to wrap around even Juggernaught's waist and it is firmly attached to Scorpion's back. It has a great rubbery hook on the end as well as an open hole just the way he had in the cartoon from which he used to shoot acid.

The only problem I had right out of the package is that his left thigh swivel had become a bit stuck. I put him in the freezer for 10 minutes and it came loose like a charm. Other than that, his other joints are a bit stiff, but, they all moved very well. Because of the stiffness, he would hold his pose on the shelf just fine.

The only parts that look to be reused from other figures were the fingers. They reminded me of Sabertooth's fingers. Other than that, everything I believe was brand new.

Overall, this is one of the BEST villains I've seen from Toybiz! I spent a long time having Iron Man fight against him yesterday afternoon. He was just so much fun to pose with that big tail and everything about him just screams "criminal"! Pick it up right away!

9 outta 10!
