Articulation

They've actually improved in the last few waves. Most noticeably with Thing and Lizard. Both of these have ball-jointed shoulders. Not a huge improvement, but an improvement nonetheless.

Hips - cut-joint
Shoulders - ball-joint
Elbows - cut-joint
Forearm - cut-joint
Neck - cut-joint

Sculpt

I love the sculpts on these. They're very "kiddish", with the over-sized feet and hands,m but for what they are, they're really neat-looking. Thing is pretty basic, but they've added a few little touches here and there. He's got a big, toothy grin (with all of his teeth molded onto the headsculpt), and a big belt-buckle with a "4" on it. On his left side, they've molded some soft rubber equipment (like a radio and some pouches). He's got the very recognizeable brow-ridges, and his skin has a rocky texture.

Paint

The paint is pretty simple as well. He's molded in orange plastic, and has his shorts and belt painted on. Both look good, with no bleed or mistakes. All of his teeth are white, but the stand-out feature of old Benjamin J. Grimm is his eyes. They're large, expressive (for a toy), and unmistakeably blue. There's just a little of the black surrounding the eyes that has run over onto his eye-lids.

Accessories/Action Feature

ThingWeights.jpg

I decided to run these two together, because with this line, the feature is usually attached to or a part of the accessory. For Thing, he comes with a "500 Lb.", 9 inch long barbell. The barbell can be placed in his hands to look like he's "curling" the weight. His action feature is a lifting motion; when you squeeze his legs together, his arms raise, lifting the barbell, as well. This hinders his arm articulation a little, but it's not too bad. His arms just have that "clicking' action when you raise them.

Overall

For being a kids' line, I love collecting these things. They're fun for me to display, and if some of my younger relations come over to visit, I don't feel bad letting them play with these. Tons of fun. Gotta give it a solid 7 out of 10.
