Summary:

This mini series starts off in 1904, in Tunguska, more importantly the Tunguska River Valley. Several men are on an expedition, and what looks like a giant meteor falls from the sky landing in the valley with a mighty explosion.

The explosion wipes out any civilization in the area, leaving a giant crater in place of the forest that once stood.

The scene changes to 1927 where several people are back in tunguska, they find the ground is poisoned and the last shot the reader sees of this small group is a man saying, “oh god.”

Now we’re in the present, a young girl is watching television and the program is changed to a video feed of space. It shows a planet, an alien race screaming in pain. A meteor hits, destroying the aliens society and finally the whole planet itself. The next few pages show that this feed is being broadcasted on every device on earth, from TVs to cell phones to giant screens in the city.

The screams of these dying aliens echo through the earthlings’ heads and ears, with final warnings that say:

“No, No escape. No Escape. It Comes. And there’s no escape. All the stars go out.”
“You Are Already Dead. It comes and you are all dead. We are all dead. Listen.
There is only death for you.”
“There is only small life. Then there is this. We he I send this tell this warn this.”
“There is only horror now. There is only death now.”

The next panels show friends of a college boy knocking on his door and as they enter they find that he’s drowned himself in the bathtub.

Another panel shows three people have hanged themselves from a tree.

Jean grey awakens from her sleep and runs to the professor Xavier, talking about the dream she has just had. They exchange words about the depth of it, and how every psychic on earth must have had the same dream.

Jean thinks that these visions indicate an attack, and Professor Xavier begins to use cerebro to home in on the emotions.

Xavier locates the distress, but seems pained by it, he asks jean to wake Logan and peter.

The scene switches to nick fury who is furious that every broadcasting system in the world is playing this feed and soon discovers that its coming from Russia. He reveals to Steve Rogers and Black widow they have been asked to investigate, and they need to go pick up another team member in the Amazon.

The next panel shows the beauty of the Amazon, and a man walking through it, picking up his cell phone and answering. Apparently his name is Sam Wilson*.

He opens his bag, suiting up in gear and the reader sees his silhouette, wings are coming out of his sides. The issue ends with Sam flying off of the mountainside, using his wings.

End Issue.

Best Page: the page with the meteor hitting, I haven’t seen colors used to this level in any ultimate title.

My Rating: 8 out of 10

My opinion: This was a shocking and dark first issue. This really sets the mood for the issues that are going to follow this one. There are some gruesome scenes in this book with people committing suicide from seeing the video. Awesome read, definitely look into this book.

Well that’s all from me, hope you all enjoyed my review. Thanks.
