Summary:

Issue 4 opens up with Black Widow blaming Captain America for what happened in this complex. Widow has found a diary and inside it explains that apparently the Russians expanded their effort in world war two underground in order to defeat him.

However whatever happened in Tunguska was biomechanical in nature. In other words some sort of device caused the accident in Tunguska. A recovered device to be more specific. They were in the process of disassembling it.

The diary goes on to explain how afraid the Russians were of Cap and that in an effort to defeat him they began super soldier testing of their own, and that’s what the complex they were now in is. Everything under ground, all these monsters that lurked around were all failed experiments to create the Russian super soldier.

Once again Black Widow points a finger at Cap, asking him if he can hear them screaming.

Next page is a full two page shot of the cells in the underground complex, with Russian super soldiers lurking around, none of their features visible. Very eerie page.

Back with the three members of the X-men, Wolverine talks about how these freaks they’re about to fight aren’t mutants. How he knows this is unclear, but colossus makes the decision to step forward and speak to his Russian brethren.

Colossus says they’re here to rescue them, and one of the creatures asks colossus if he’s Russian. He answers yes and the creature snatches him up calling him a liar. Peter then decides to go to plan be and turns metallic.

The muscular X-man wrenches himself free from the monster and wolverine jumps into the mix.

The next panel switches back to the Falcon, Cap, Widow and Fury again, they continue to walk through the complex. A hand emerges from the ground and guns begin to go off, falcon flying around and shooting.

They don’t stop firing until they’re out of bullets in their guns. They begin to realize the experiments that were living down there are too horrific to imagine. It had been a long time for a lot of mistakes to be made.

Jean screams this is wrong as once again the scene changes back with the x men who are battling these monsters with everything they have. The phoenix force begins to show itself again as jean rises up and screams. The floor caves in under the monsters, ridding her comrades of them.

Awesome page with jean floating above them.*

She lands and wolverine says she’s pushing herself too hard, she burst some blood vessels inside her ear. She retaliates by demanding he stop trying to prove his manhood on something, because the child screaming in her brain isn’t lessening.

Scene switches back to cap asking Natasha about Russian super soldiers. She says there are four branches she knows of. And obviously one she didn’t, within boxes. They continue onward and see something in the shadows, they begin to fire once again and when they stop, Fury asks if they killed it.

It appears this new man is clad in a read costume, a star printed on his chest. He claims he’s the “trustee”. His costume is similar to Captain Americas.

This man reveals that the Russians told him they’d made him great so one day he could meet captain America. He’s been waiting at the complex all these years for cap to come and now he’s finally here.

He goes on to say he told his fellow Russians he has no shield and they says they can’t replicate caps shield. So he made his own.

Full page shot of…Russian supersoldier..**

Cap steps forward, saying he knew Great Russian soldiers and if what this mans saying is true, then he’s getting his fight. He says that if this guy has been waiting forty years for this fight then it would be rude of him not to fight.

Fury and the others continue on cap stays to fight the Russian super soldier.

The next scene shows bricks melting away and jean standing there. Wolverine asks her if she’s all right and she asks him what does he care. She brings up the past again, how wolverine slept with her and then told her he worked for magneto and how she still hasn’t really forgave him for that.

Her personality is starting to darken, whether it be the phoenix or the mental images from the complex the reader can tell jeans starting to lose it. She starts to repeat the words from the images

“No Escape, it comes and there’s no escape, all the stars go out.”

Wolverine says the closer they get to whatever it is causing this disturbance the worse jean gets. Colossus takes down the next-door, jean demands wolverine don’t touch her, it makes her sick.

Once the door is knocked down the last page shows a shocked colossus, and wolverine staring wide-eyed ahead and jean repeating more phrases from the feed. This shot is really creepy and makes me want to read the next and final issue!!!!

End Issue.

Best Page: Full page shot of the Russian supersoldier!! Captain…Russia?

My Rating: 9 out of 10

My opinion: I’m stunned, and wanting more. This issue has tied up a lot of ends except for what’s left, whatever is in this complex!!! The reader is left with so much waiting to be answered, and a huge super soldier fight! Awesome issue!! Next please!!

Well that’s all from me, hope you all enjoyed my review. Thanks.
