Summary:
Last issue hit rock solid with the world finding out Bruce Banner was secretly the hulk, a monster responsible for more than 800 deaths in an attack on New York City. The public also found out that the american government has been holding banner deep under ground in the custody of SHIELD.
The second issue opens with iron man traveling in the ocean toward a submarine thats stuck on the ocean floor. Apparently Tony is trying out a new type of armor thats working wonderfully. The colors on this page are beautiful.
He finds a group of super soliders surrounding the sub, their leader appears to look like Captain Britain (although they never mention the leaders name.)
The European intelligence directly contacts tony stark and thanks him for his assistance. Iron man contacts the main control room back at the triskellion and asks for more power. They power up the satellite connected to Iron Mans suit and he moves the sub, saving the European soliders inside with the aid of the super soliders.
Some feirce talk is exchanged between Natasha and Jarvis, she comments on how jarvis will never be able to give tony the one thing she can. Jarvis asks if its Hungarian goulash.
The next panel changes to venice where Pietro and Wanda Maximoff are enjoying some time away from saving the world. The Siblings take a relaxing boat ride which is interrupted by a phone call from the triskellion. Pietro is informed of the hulk situation and they leave.
From a window Thor watches the News reports of the information leak about the hulk, someone on the screen accuses thor of the information leak and the thunder god flies off.
Back at the triskellion an emergency meeting has been called with the ultimates, and they begin to talk about what theyre going to do. Stark criticizes shield for its screw up and Nick Fury asks stark how he wouldve handled it. Tony doesnt reply and the conversation shifts as a result of Steve Rogers trashing Betty Ross.
He brings up an excellent point, he says that all they were doing was cleaning up their mess and Ross's people claimed they were heroes. Fury strongly protests, claiming if not for betty's team they wouldnt be as great with the public as they are.
Betty begins to say that the public will want a trial. A live broadcasted trial and Tony argues saying that its instant execution, but betty says shes willing to let that happen.
Janet is shocked, but betty explains by saying her job comes first, and it hurts her the most.
Steve asks if Fury thinks it was thor who let the information about the hulk leak, and Nick Fury says that Thors a very complex person and nothing is for certain. He doesnt want to accuse him of anything and upset him.
Another comment by fury, and cap asks if fury thinks that cap goes looking for fights.
In the next full page shot a figure is dropped out of a helicopter into times square, a star is printed on the figures chest. A sign for a club called hades is shown and thor is inside talking to a woman on a couch.
Many people are inside the club dancing and dont notice captain america walk in and point at thor, simply shouting "You"
Thor half turns glancing at cap, and captain america accuses him of the information leak to the public. Thor tells the D.J. of the club to turn off the music.
Thor announces that Captain america thinks thor has released information to the public regarding bruce banner and has come to beat him up. He asks cap if this is whats happening. and then he continues on to say hes only been in the triskellion 3 times in his life:
1.Once to see fury
2.once to have breakfast with tony
3. and once for the charity thing they did last christmas
Cap tells thor to watch his step and is about to make his way out when a young girl spits in his face. The teens begin to douse captain america with beer and thor becomes angry at them and screams. His lightning travels through every light in the club.
Thor stops rogers and appologizes for the teens behavior, he reveals that he thinks that the information leakage is a result of his evil half brother loki breaking out of a prison. Cap doesnt want to hear it and storms out.
The next panel shows charles Xavier inside bruce banners mind, the two talk about his current situation and Banner doesnt seem too worried about whats going to happen.
Bruce talks about how he knew that this was going to happen to him, that once they stuck him down there he knew he wasnt coming back up alive.
The professor ends the psionic link between himself and banner and exits the room.
The next page is a full shot of the hulk, beefed up and awesome looking, but blurry like a vision.
Xavier walks out with fury, offering to take banner in and maybe helping him control the powers further, and explaining cyclops's situation when he was younger and how he's helped him out.
Then the scene changes back to Bruce banner, hes talking to hank pym about his situation. Theres already cameras set up filming banner in his cell. The two exchange words and banner seems hopeless about his situation.
Hank reveals hes leaving the ultimates and the triskellion, because noone really wants him there, and with fury bringing in new black ops teams hes just going to edit pym out as if he was never there. they were going to phase him out. Banner doesnt believe a thing.
Just as this is being said the scene cuts to fury whose watching in the control room. it looks as if hes editing the tape of the conversation that just took place between banner and pym. The last page is a full page shot of fury.
End Issue.
Best Page: Full page shot of Iron Man underwater, the art is awesome
My Rating: 9 out of 10
My opinion: Issue 2 followed issue one like the second punch in a fight. It was awesome, such depth and the story is really picking up. Millar does such a good job of showing how drastically things are changing for the ultimates, and how secrets are lurking around every corner. Hitch's art is on point, and spectacular as always
Well that’s all from me, hope you all enjoyed my review. Thanks.
