Review - Teen Titans 3.5" Robin by Bandai
by Kid Lance
The toy in review is the Robin figure from the Teen Titans 3.5” Beast Boy and Robin two pack by Bandai. As of this writing, there are several two packs and play sets already available in the market that includes a similar 3.5” Robin figure. The only difference between Robin figure releases is with the head design – different hair style, deformed head size, deformed smile/mouth.
Articulation
· Neck. It twists at the neck so you can turn it around 360 degrees to the left or to the right. It is not a ball-joint so you cannot make it look up or down.
· Arms. The arms rotate at the left and right shoulders. You can swing it up and all the way to the back. It is not a ball-joint so you cannot stretch his arms sideways to form a “T” shape.
· Legs. Left and right legs by the hips. You can swing a leg up to kick or make it sit. A border of sorts on his behind prevents you from making an abnormal pose of pushing his legs all the way back.
· Thighs. Left and right thigh can be twisted 360 degrees. Makes up for some good poses.
· Knees. Bends in the normal way.
The limited number of articulation does not hamper playability. Clearly a (boy) wonder of a design for such a small figure.
If given a chance to make enhancements, I would recommend additional articulation in the following places:
Forearm where the gloves and arm connect.
Elbow joints as long as the sculpt will not get ruined.
Torso where the red Kevlar body armor and belt meet.
Articulation at the boot ankles can also be considered but not recommended, as it might cause the figure to topple over (that is, when it is standing unaided) once the ankle joints become weak.
