Review - Classic Cartoons on DVD

In the mood for some old school cartoons? Following suit with the trend of TV series DVD sets, Warner Brothers has just released the newest additions to its Golden, Spotlight and Classic Cartoons on DVD sets. You can now pick up five brand new Classic Cartoon DVD box sets from Warner Home Video. All five sets are made for those fans that feel packaging is important and all include a collectable Litho Cel, which is a nice bonus for true cartoon fans.

Hanna-Barbera’s Huckleberry Hound: Volume 1

This four-disc set has a runtime of 624 minutes and includes 26 episodes from the originally aired show including the premiere episode. Not only do we get to revisit Huckleberry Hound, but also there are also original Pixie and Dixie, Mr. Jinks the cat and the first appearances of Yogi and Boo Boo Bear. Special features include a remastered Pilot including segments never seen in color before as well as other reassembled episodes.

This is a great find for any Yogi Bear fan; all 33 episodes from the television series in one fully restored and remastered four DVD set. Bonuses included in this set are the originally aired pilot, a still gallery and more.

Hanna-Barbera’s The Flintstones: The Complete Fourth Season

With seasons one through three already available fans of this show have been anxiously awaiting the release of season four. In line with the other releases Warner Brothers has brought the entire 25 episode season on four discs to us with great special features including commentaries on 2 key episodes. This is sure to be a “gay old time” for any Flintstones fan complete with the Pebbles meets Bamm-Bamm episode!

If Looney Tunes Volumes one and two left you wanting more great uncensored episodes and first time video debuts of you favorite child hood cartoon, Warner Brothers has what you are looking for. Volume Three is now available and includes 60 episodes on four DVD’s. This set is packed with special features including commentaries, music and effects tracks and early black and white wartime shorts. This is a must have to sooth your inner wrascaly wabbit. This set is recommended for adult audiences only.

Wow! 38 more classic Tom and Jerry shorts on a two DVD set, what more could a Tom and Jerry fan ask for? This set includes three Academy Award nominee episodes and seven episodes in the rarely seen widescreen CinemaScope. If special features is what you are looking for, this is full of commentaries, character inspirations and character personality development. This adult collector set will be fun for any fan of the show.
