The battle of box office between Marvel and DC Comics for the best movie opening this summer was decided over this past weekend with the opening of Superman Returns.
Marvel has come out the big winner with X-Men The Last Stand opening to $120 million compared to Superman Returns five total of $84 million. Superman Returns did open ahead of Batman Begins which took in $48.7 million over its opening weekend and $72.9 million in its first five days, but falls short of the Marvel movies.
One would have to think that with all of the seemly non-stop promotion for Superman Returns Warner Bros. Studios can not be very happy with the results.

1. "Superman Returns," $52.15 million
2. "The Devil Wears Prada," $27 million.
3. "Click," $19.4 million.
4. "Cars," $14 million.
5. "Nacho Libre," $6.2 million.
