Mattel debuted their new HyperScan gaming platform that utilizes advanced CD-ROM and RFID technology, bringing the world of collector card games and video games together, it combines re-writable Intellicard technology – used for the first time in the gaming and toy industry – with the fast-paced, button-mashing action of video games.
Kids will watch the CD-ROM with the HyrperScan handheld and then at certain points of the CD-ROM they will be able to scan cards that upgrade their attacks, if you win the battle your character's newly scanned powers will become a part them permanently.
The HyperScan game system will be released this October and comes complete with the console, one controller ,one X-Men CD game and six X-Men collectible game cards for $69.99.
Launch titles will include one CD game and six collectible game cards for an $19.99. Marvel X-Men, Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 and Mattel’s Interstellar Wrestling League with Marvel Heroes coming in November 2006.
