Mini-busts have really found a place in the world of collecting. Gentle Giant has a huge assortment of these miniature half statues. DC has been pounding out their line-up, and DST has had their very impressive line-up over the past couple years.

One of the latest is the New Avengers Spider-Man mini-bust from Diamond Select Toys. Inspired by Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada, and sculpted by Michael Locassio, this new Spider-Man costume comes just prior to the Marvel Civil War story line.

Surprisingly, “Iron Spider-Man” has not suffered the fate of the last change to Spider-Man’s costume, which due to fan anger, became Venom.

This bust measures a total of 6 inches in height, and 4” wide and 4” deep. It retails for $60 and is limited to 3000 pieces.

Sculpt: Detailing on this bust is minimal, but pretty accurate to the comics, although Spider-Man does strike me as a bit too thin. The webs I thought were the coolest part of this bust; offering the best detailing. Certainly adds to the bust’s aura, and breathes life into it.

Paint: The paint is a “Tony Stark” signature color scheme of metallic red and gold. The red is very rich in depth, and comes off magnificently in this piece. There are a few minor flaws in the paint applications; particularly around the hard to paint areas such as the black trim around the "Spidey" icon, but overall, excellent work.

Value: Considering the small size of this piece, $60 does seem a bit steep. Still, it isn’t a bad bust, and would be a nice addition to any display.
Recommendation: If you’re a webhead groupie, there’s no way you will want to be without this piece. Small enough to fit in just about any environment, this makes for a professional appearance on just about any office desk or home display.
