From the vast DC universe of characters, comes the The Warlord, Travis Morgan. A military pilot who accidentally crash landed on a mysterious island inhabited by dinosaurs, humans and other-worldly creatures, Morgan eventually adapts to the island’s primitive culture and decides to become its ruler, fighting bravely and commanding his military forces in order to protect his new home from evil forces which want to control the entire land.

Paint: The figure is very well painted with the exception of the straps that go across the Warlord’s chest. The paint seems applied in a sloppy manner here; however, the rest of the figure shows no signs of blotches or paint runs. There is a very high quality in the paint detail on the chain mail on the figure’s right arm as well as well as the belt and boots which have been dry brushed black over a metallic silver basecoat to give the effect of battle-worn armor.
Something that really catches the eye is the blood splatter on the legs and it would have been great if DC Direct would have done a bit more of this blood-splatter effect on other parts of the figure.

Articulation: Although DC Direct is not known for super articulation on their figures, this figure offers a little something new. The Warlord’s legs have a special joint in the hip which allows the legs to be spread outward similar to the leg articulation seen in most DC Superheroes by Mattel, a nice unexpected addition.

The rest of the figure features standard DC Direct articulation - knees, elbows, wrists, ball-socket shoulders and neck/head. The figure can be posed in a few different ways, but added waist articulation and an abdominal/ mid-chest joint would make this figure so much better.

Packaging: The same standard 4-color cardboard card is once again used for this figure. DC has been using for the same packaging for the past 2+ years and it's probably time for DC to give their packaging an overhaul. There's nothing special about the packaging and it doesn't stand out from any other DC Direct figure.

Accessories: The figure includes a sword, a spear and a removable helmet. The spear is fragile and care must be taken when putting it into the figure's right hand. The sword is delicate as well and, as such, fans posing the figure with the sword may want to use glue to permanently fix the sword in the figure's hand.
The helmet is awesome and fits perfectly. It's proportionate with the figure’s head and looks amazing when fitted onto the figure.
Fans who don't normally buy DC Direct figures may like Warlord. DC's attention to detail is flawless and the added articulation is a welcome addition. DC Direct really surprises with this figure, despite the few accessory flaws. Fans of fantasy and medieval figures, as well as DC Comic characters, may want to add this bad boy to their collection. This figure blends in well with 300, Conan and other figures.
