In a bit of confusing news ICv2.com is reporting that Fox Studios has contacted J. Michael Straczynski to write a screenplay for a Silver Surfer spin-off saga.

Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer will be released tomorrow with a PG rating, apparently fans are so upset by this that Fox wants the new project to appeal to an older fan demographic with a PG-13 rating.

This all seems like wild rumor to me at this point seeing that Straczynski is writing the new Marvel Comics Silver Surfer: Requiem four-issue mini-series, it's a little to convenient that his name would be attached to any projects.

Let's see how well ROTSS does at the weekend box office before we start planning any sequels or spin offs.
