Mattel continues their new Q & A program with another round. If your question wasn't answered this time, be sure to get it in by posting it in our FORUMS. Without further ado, round 2:
1) - It was recently revealed the DC Universe would include variant figures. As Mattel lines are more consumer-friendly than some others at retail, how hard will it be to find these variant figures and are any retailer or convention exclusives/variants planned at this time?
Mattel - The chase versions will be just that- chase figures. It helps make the line collectible and fun for fans. We are talking about retailer and convention exclusives but it is too early to discuss anything specific at this time.
2) - Fans would love to see multi-packs of "The Green Lantern Corps," "Justice League" or "Heroes of Gotham." Do you plan to release any multi-packs in the DC Universe line and, if so, what can you tell us about these plans?
Mattel - These are all ideas that are on the table but nothing we can reveal quite yet. Good suggestions (and) thoughts!
3) - With the high-quality sculpts and inclusion of build-a-figure pieces, will the price point of the DC Universe figures rise from the current DC Super Heroes price?
Mattel - Our retail partners each set a price but it will be in the ball park of $9.99.
4) - A lot of collectors are excited about the new DC Universe Fighting Figures. Was this line originally designed as a game or a line of mini-figures with special action features and will the game feature a dueling system or is a larger, multi-character strategy rule/game system involved?
Mattel - Yes, the line was originally conceived as a game but after reevaluating fan interest and market trends we decided that issuing them as awesome two packs with one villain and one hero was the way to go. Have we mentioned they are all sculpted by the Four Horsemen? Each pack will come with a diorama behind it in a cool window box.
5) - Mattel's releases DC Super Friends for children and it's being well received by both kids and collectors alike. What other DC Comic toys or action figures can fans expect to see Mattel make for children that'll also appeal to collectors?
Mattel - We’re always working on new ideas and concepts for collector and kids based lines. It is always a golden toy moment when the two can collide in such perfect harmony.
