Mattel has another batch of DC Superheroes in store for ya! This time they turn away from the Superman property once again to focus on Batman. There are four figures to start:

- Knight Shadow Batman

- Batgirl

- Camo Bane

- Two-Face

These figures should be hitting your local toy retailers now so keep your eyes peeled!

This review will take a look at a brand new version of Two-Face, otherwise known as Harvey Dent, the Batman villain with a dual personality.

PACKAGING: Sitting on the pegs of your local toy store, these figures are most certainly attractive. Nice vibrant colors, a clear shot of the figure inside, big words… but that’s pretty much it. The cardbacks offer no character driven artwork or photography, no character bios, origins, or anything of interest. here is absolutely no reason to keep the packaging unless you want to see the other figures offered in the line-up.

I think Mattel should at least TRY to emulate what Hasbro and Toy Biz have done with their Marvel Legends. Geeks and future geeks alike crave the extra bits of information about the characters, and I know that kids just might be more interested in getting a figure if they knew exactly what it was they were getting.

SCULPT: Two-Face sports a decent sculpt on both sides. The Harvey Dent side is pretty generic though, but I suppose it’s fine since it contrasts nicely with the deformed half. I am disappointed that the neck isn’t split up evenly as well. It’s just one solid neck that’s a part of the body. Some extra wrinkles or detail there would be great.

The rest of the body is a standard figure in a suit and it works just fine. The hands of course are different -- with the right hand normal and the left hand deformed. It looks good enough but it has a hard time holding the tommy-gun.

PAINT: The paint aps are pretty clean but you’ll definitely have to check out both sides. The Harvey Dent half is in a white suit while the other half is black with pin stripes on the jacket. The stripes are all clean and it’s great to see that even the buttons received some attention. There is a bit of black slop on the white jacket so take a good look at yours before you purchase.

The head is painted well but the neck could use something extra. The lack of sculpt details in the neck make it all the more obvious when the paint isn’t the same color as the face and hands.

I also have an issue with the Harvey Dent eye. It’s a very light blue and doesn’t seem centered. It’s a minor complaint, but he looks as if he’s looking slightly above you.

ARTICULATION: These DC Superheroes have a long way to go to compete with the Marvel Legends and now the Legendary Comic Book Heroes, but the articulation offered certainly isn’t bad. Two-Face sports approximately 24 points of articulation.

The head is able to look left and right (not up and down), there’s ball jointed shoulders and hips, swivel bicep, articulated elbows, swivel wrists, waist, upper thigh, knee, and ankle joints.

ACCESSORIES: Each DC Superhero comes with cardboard diorama but it’s nothing impressive. I would rather they provide some sort of display stand instead.

Two-Face at least does come with a Tommy-Gun. But do realize that he isn’t able to hold it in his hand. There are two clear rubber bands that come with Two-Face so make sure you hang onto them. They’ll come in handy when Two-Gun wants to hold his gun.

COST: I picked these up at Toys’R’Us where they ran at $9.99.

OVERALL: Many folks have been waiting for a decent Two-Face figure for some time and they won’t be too disappointed. The sculpt is solid but do keep an eye out for the paint. Most should be good but it never hurts to look.

Now if only it was a few bucks cheaper, It would be well worth it. But even at $10, I have no regrets.
