While Spider-Man 3 has come and gone, everyone's favorite neighborhood web-slinger is always hot, with legions of rabid fans eagerly awaiting all of the new products they can get their hands on. Comic-Con did not disappoint them. Monogram in particular was popular with the Spidey set, offering two exclusive variant Spider-Man bust/paperweights, the Marvel Heroes Silver Bust and the Spider-Man 3 Black-Suited Resin Paperweight.

Monogram's paperweight line has perfected the clamshell packaging, combining strong visual aesthetics and rarely seen ease of opening that pleases both the MIB collector and opener. In front of a wide card is the paperweight, displayed on the right-hand side. The bust floats completely in front of the backing, allowing for a high degree of visibility. On many other packages having the item so far forward would unbalance the package, but the Monogram clamshells have an additional plastic section on the back side to balance it out. The packages stand up well on their own and can be displayed that way.

For those who are going to remove their paperweights from the packaging, Monogram makes it easy. On the back of the package is a perforated square
and tab. Simply pull the tab to remove the perforated panel and take the whole paperweight section right out. No knives, scissors, or box-cutters required!

The Monogram Marvel Heroes line has already had two Spider-Man busts, the regular version and a black-suited version. This exclusive Silver edition is based on the standard red and blue version's sculpt, showing the superhero half-twisted with his right fist cocked and left hand ready to shoot webbing. When it comes to Spider-Man, this is really the definitive pose. The sculpt is very good, with muscle and costume detail in all the right places. The "antique" look of the pewter finish blurs out some of the lines on the costume, but instead of that being a downside it really adds to the effect.

The Silver Spider-Man stands atop the traditional base, a heavy-duty block of sculpted brick. On the front is the Spider-Man face logo as seen on the other paperweights. At the very bottom is a black felt base with the Marvel Heroes logo. The entire piece is very heavy and solid.

The other Spider-Man piece comes from the Spider-Man 3 movie collection. A repaint of the existing resin paperweight, the exclusive Black-Suited Spider-Man is the natural next step for the big screen superhero. The darker persona looks great with the black base and silver and white piping. The sculpt has a great amount of texture, a highlight of the Spider-Man costume in the films. Spider-Man's pose is similar to that of the Marvel Heroes line with less of a twist. Spider-Man stands mostly straight, with his head swiveled to the left where his hand assumes the web-shooting gesture. His right hand extends out in a balancing position.

Spider-Man stands atop a sculpted pedestal base. It sort of resembles a chimney, square with horizontal bands. Branded on the front center is the Spider-Man symbol from the films, a stylized arachnid. At the very bottom
is "Spider-Man 3."

Both of these exclusive paperweights embody Monogram's high quality and
attention to detail. Fans of Spider-Man in comic and film form will have their favorites, but both paperweights are excellent pieces that will look great in a collection or guarding papers on a desk.
