There are few collectors who haven’t had an action figure or statue break on them. And, while many collectors choose to display their more expensive pieces on what they believe to be secure flat spaces or walls, there’s no telling exactly when Lady Luck will run out and leave you high and dry. For Daniel Castillo, Lady Luck took off on a fateful morning two months ago…
”I had my collection displayed around my bedroom and office on wall-mounted shelves which I thought were secured to the wall. Boy was I wrong…”
On that fateful morning, Castillo awoke to the crashing sound of two of his shelves falling, taking a few of his favorite statues along for the ride. Disaster victims included a Bowen Dark Phoenix statue, a Sideshow Iron Man Comiquette and a Sideshow Iron Man Legendary Scale bust.
While some collectors would count their losses and retire these broken beauties to the circular file, Castillo wanted them fixed. After some research into getting the statues professionally repaired, Castillo realized he could probably do it himself and, after a 10 year hiatus, picked up an air brush and went to work returning the statues to their former glory.
