Marvel's Spectacular Spider-man cartoon is shaping up to be a major Saturday morning property in 2008. Originally scheduled for a short 13-episode season, the show has already doubled its initial planned run to 26 episodes and has just solidified major partnerships with licensees. New merchandise from Hasbro, Wear Me Apparel, Jay Franco, Giant Merchandising and other companies will swing into production in time for the debut of the cartoon next year, with additional licensees being pursued. Should the Kids' WB cartoon run only for the planned 26 episodes, it will most likely be profitable from merchandising alone. Culver Entertainment, a Sony Pictures Television company, is producing the show, which will follow Peter during his high school years.
