NBC's upcoming project Heroes: Origins has been shelved. Variety reports that the six-episode Heroes spin-off may never be produced, as NBC has placed the project on hold given the pending writer's strike. Originally intended to premiere during the hiatus of Heroes later this year, "Origins" had drawn Hollywood talent the likes of Kevin Smith and Eli Roth. Executives at NBC have made their decisions due to the uncertainty surrounding the possible strike in tinseltown. Fans should not mourn prematurely, however, as Hollywood insiders have said that pending the regular show's continued success, "Origins" could still be produced, possibly as early as the next season of Heroes.
