Mattel answers your questions regarding their up-and-coming superhero products!!!

SHT: Just to reiterate for our readers, what is the release schedule for the first 2 waves of Fighting Figures and the first few waves of DCU: Classics in 2008?

Mattel: The first wave of DCUC should be out now with the second wave following in late Feb/Early March. Wave 3 should be out by May. The Fighting Figure lines will follow a similar schedule, with all three waves out by June.

SHT: We've confirmed that chase figures will be a part of the DCU: Classics line. Will Fighting Figures also have variants/chase figures?

Mattel: The Fighting Figures line does not currently have chase figures. This is something we may look at for the future.

SHT: Fans are very excited that The Dark Knight Figures will be receiving the 5" and 6" scale treatments. Will they get a glimpse of these before ToyFair?

Mattel: Look for your first look in several collector magazines in February.

SHT: Speaking of The Dark Knight, what else is on deck besides the figures? Are playsets, vehicles, and large scale figures coming as well?

Mattel: Yup! We will have pocket playsets (with 3 inch figures), ultra figures, deluxe figures and a really amazing 30 inch Batman available exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. Look for more details after NY Toy Fair.

SHT: With several big lines in the works, what is Mattel most excited about in 2008?

Mattel: It is hard to pin point exactly what we are “most” excited about. Pretty much every designer, marketing rep and package designer tends to be most excited about the lines he or she works on. For Toy Guru it is the DCUniverse line that is “a dream come true” and I’m personally looking forward to. We also have some amazing surprises for Comic Con that look to blow everyone’s expectations away. More details in the future.
