The upcoming Spider-man Musical continues moving forward, and director Julie Taymor has her number one choices locked for the two main roles. Jim Sturgess (as seen in Across the Universe) will fill the shoes of Peter Parker/Spider-man, and Evan Rachel Wood (also featured in Universe) will play his love-interest, Mary Jane Watson.

Last year, Taymor was quoted as saying "Jim's certainly interested, but his film career has taken off, so I have to nab him between movies. Same with Evan. They'd be my ideal pairing, though, if they're free." Recent news of the confirmed casting came from a workshop attendee for the musical, who states that he has seen the actors in rehearsal. While an individual attending a workshop is not a "legitimate news source" in the strict sense, the confirmation seems sound given Taymor's relationship to these actors as well as their own interest in the project. The Spider-Man Musical will feature music by U2's Bono and The Edge, but no date has been set for the Broadway debut.
