Batfans in need of a fix before the release of The Bark Knight will be satiated thanks to Warner Bros. upcoming Batman: Gotham Knight DVD. A fusion of eastern and western styles, Batman:GK will combine the talents of six different well-known authors and three notable anime studios to create six interrelated stories that take place between the live-action films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. With writers like Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David Goyer (Batman Begins), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), and Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets) attached, Batman:GK is sure to please fans of the darker, more recent on-screen incarnations of the Dark Knight.

Warner Bros. intends to release 3 different DVDs for the project--a single disc edition ($24.98 SRP), a double-disc special edition ($29.98), and a hi-def blu-ray edition ($34.98). The single disc version will feature filmmaker commentaries and a documentary on Batman's villains, and the two-disc version will feature the same, plus an additional documentary on the work of Batman-creator Bob Kane and a selection of Animated Series-director Bruce Timm's favorite episodes of B:TAS. Batman: Gotham Knight is set for release on July 8th, ten days before The Dark Knight hits theaters.
