Sideshow was sadly missed at the New York Toy Fair International this year, but that didn't stop them from wowing us with a wealth of new product announcements.
Topping that list was the unveiling of their 12" Indiana Jones. Based on his appearance in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Dr. Jones features a slew of accessories including trademark bullwhip and gun, satchel and golden idol artifact, as well as a fine tailored outfit including faux-leather jacket. Fans will also receive alternate hands (gloved and bare) and two interchangable heads (with fedora and without). The Sideshow exclusive edition, with bonus torch and dart, quickly sold out but one can still hope to acquire one on Sideshow's WAIT LIST. Those that can live without those two accessories best place their PREORDERS NOW on the regular version.
Another Toy Fair announcement that had collectors drooling was Sideshow's 12" Clone Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi: General action figure. The exclusive version of the armored Jedi again rapidly sold out, but Star Wars fans can still PREORDER the REGULAR EDITION.
Debuting their first licensed statue from Jurassic Park, Sideshow presented T-Rex VS Velociraptors. The dynamic piece depicts the two dinos locked in combat, the mighty T-Rex being the clear winner. This diorama measures 12" × 13" and can be PREORDERED NOW while supplies last.
Soaring in from this year's anticipated action-packed Iron Man movie comes an amazing Iron Man Life-size Bust. Taken directly from the molds used to create the film costume, this 1:1 scale bust is cast in high-quality fiberglass, hand finished and hand painted to exacting standards, and features LED light-up glowing eyes. One item I wish I had the money for is Sideshow's new Hellboy II Revolver. This life-size replica of Hellboy's awesome Samaritan comes cast in dense metal and allows you to remove all four metal bullets from the rotating cylinder. Last, but certainly not least, Sideshow is now accepting PREORDERS on their latest 12" Lord of the Rings figure: Gandalf the Grey. Sideshow has upped their prices a tad to $89.99, but that shouldn't deter fans from completing their Fellowship with the powerful wizard. The Sideshow exclusive includes Balin's journal, while the REGULAR EDITION looks just as stunning with staff and his sword Glamdring.
Other hot new items available for preorder include a trio of android busts from the sci-fi movie I, Robot. Produced by PopBox Collectibles, these approximately 8" tall mixed media busts include Sonny - NS-5 Android, NS-4 Android (green), and NS-4 Android (brown). The neat thing about these is that they are all electronic. The NS-4's feature a 2-button, 10-second voice recorder with subsequent light-up LED eyes during playback and neck articulation. Both are are priced at $89.99 and strictly limited to 500 pieces. Sonny features a motion-sensor (up to 12 feet) and LED light replicating its illuminated brain. This one retails for $119.99 and is limited to 3000 pieces.
