This week sees a broader range of distributed products by Sideshow Collectibles. A new company on that list is Moebius Models and their updated reissues of some Aurora classics. One of my favorites is the The Voyager Model Kit. This retro gem is from the 1968 animated series Fantastic Voyage and is a faithful recreation of the vintage kit with some improvements. Its fit and finish has been drastically improved, as well as the fit on the included clear stand. This beauty is slated for release next month, up for PREORDER now priced at only $24.99.
Another Moebius release is the Dr. Jekyll as Mr. Hyde Model Kit. Also shipping this April priced at $24.99, this Universal Monsters classic depicts the good Doctor in mid-transformation. Fit and finish have also been improved on this kit and the lab equipment has been made clear to make it more realistic. A Glow in the Dark Version of this kit is available as well, limited to only 3000 pieces.
Sideshow also continues to distribute select fine collectibles from Mezco Toyz. Current items include a new line of articulated roto-cast Hellboy 2: The Golden Army busts. These durable vinyl sculptures, priced at an affordable $29.99 each, include Hellboy's "Right Hand of Doom" and Big Red himself. Great pieces at a fraction of the cost of a resin bust.
Exciting new imports from Hot Toys include their vibrant Year of the Mouse Disney collection. Figures include their adorable mini Cosbaby toys consisting of Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Each figure features attractive Chinese royal garb and a retail price of only $8.50 each. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are also available as 11" tall collectible figures, each priced at $124.99 and starring ornate real cloth outfits.
Fans of the Ridley Scott sci-fi treasure ALIEN will not want to miss out on Hot Toys' latest amazing 1:6th scale action figures. Up for preorder are two crew members of the spaceship Nostromo decked out in their futuristic space suits: Executive Officer Kane and Captain Dallas. Each detailed figure includes light-up functions in their helmet and back pack as well as a display base featuring a 1:6th scale Alien egg. Kane even comes with an interchangable head with a damaged visor and facehugger attached to his face! These are priced at a cool $149.99 each and scheduled to ship third quarter 2008.
