DC and Warner Bros. continue to build momentum for the upcoming release of the straight-to-DVD animated short collection, Batman Gotham Knight, set for release July 8, 2008 -- ten days beforeThe Dark Knight hit theaters everywhere. Batman Gotham Knight is the third DC Universe Animated original movie from DC Comics, Warner Premiere, Warner Home Video, and Warner Bros. Animation. It promises to be of big interest to fans this year, the companies sparing no expenses.
First, the studio has enlisted the voice talent of Kevin Conroy, best known as the voice of the Dark Knight on the many 90's animated series, to return as Batman. Gotham Knight producer and B:TAS legend Bruce Timm believes that Conroy will not only receive approval from fans, but also help better establish continuity between Gotham Knights' many stories and visual styles, as the DVD will feature six, interlocking stories that explore the exploits of Batman between the two feature films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Second, the all-new movie will debut on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, On Demand, Pay Preview, and download, all on the same day, July 8, 2008. The single disc edition of Gotham Knight will be available on DVD for $19.98 SRP, with the 2-disc special edition coming in at $29.98 SRP and a Blu-ray version at $34.99. Both 2-disc editions contain over 100 minutes of bonus features, plus 4 bonus episodes from the Emmy-Winning Batman: The Animated Series cartoon, chosen by Bruce Timm. The breakdown is featured below:
*Batman and Me a Devotion of Destiny: The Bob Kane Story - A comprehensive look at the Life of Batman's creator.
* A Mirror for the Bat: The Evil Denizens of Gotham City - A documentary on several Gotham's most notorious rogues, as well as their symbiotic ties to Batman.
*Batman: The Animated Series Bonus Episodes - Bruce Timm selects his favorite episodes from the hit 1990's cartoon.
*Sneak Peek: Wonder Woman - An exclusive preview of the upcoming DC Universe animated original movie.
