So after hearing the stories of the amazing Medicom Real Action Heroes line of figures, I was happy to finally get my hands on one of these amazing toys. The RAH line has been around for some time now, and are at the top of the food chain when it comes to larger scale figures. And the one I get to take a look at today is truly no exception.

Medicom’s release in the RAH line of Venom as featured in Spider-Man 3 is a remarkable piece of work. This figure is amazingly accurate down to every last detail of its big screen counterpart. But before we move that far, let’s take a look at the packaging.

The box for this one... it’s kind of plain really. You have an amazing front panel of simply beautiful full color artwork as Venom pounces his way towards you. But the rest of the box is really just bland. But then again, many Japanese figures like this aren’t big on the boxes being completely eye-catching; they really want you to focus on what’s inside. And what’s inside is really the stunner here.

Opening the front panel of the box, you find yourself looking at Venom in all his glory behind a panel of plastic. On the inside of the front panel, you are treated to some great pictures of the figure inside, posed in several different ways.

Upon opening the box and pulling out the cardboard insert the figure is cradled within, we get to some of Japan’s finest figural work. On the back of the plastic interior you find a small bag that holds the four separate pieces of the display stand in it: the base, pole, and waist and neck holders. The two holders have small brass screws that you can loosen or tighten to affix them in any position along the main pole. All the pieces of the stand are cast in clear plastic.

Pulling the figure out of the plastic is an amazing thing the first time. Like I said, this is the first RAH I have had the pleasure of checking out and I was amazed at the feel and texture of the costume and figure in general.

The head sculpt on this thing is simply breathtaking. The multi-layered sculpt on the jaw alone is worth the money. The paint on the figure’s head, hands and feet is immaculate and flawless.

The costume is a thing of beauty as well. Venom's body suit is made of a special coated fabric that looks and feels, or so I’m told, much like the film’s actual costume. The raised spider around the body of the costume is a nice addition as well. The costume is actually fitted to the figure and stitched around the back of it. The head, hands and feet almost appear to be a part of the costume, which is really cool. The feet are made out of a vinyl material, and actually allow the figure to stand much easier. The wrist joints in the hands are attached with a very nice and snug brass pole. And the neck of the costume actually goes up INTO the back of the head. Overall, an amazing piece of craftsmanship here.

The poseability of this figure is nothing to sneeze at either. This thing can be posed in virtually any position imaginable. I took a few shots of this guy in different stances, but the sheer magnitude of what you could do with this guy would take a TON of pictures just to convey properly! The muscle structure of the figure matches its screen counterpart in every area. Once again, this is some of Medicom’s finest work to date.

I can’t recommend this figure enough to you. Now, the price may seem a little steep, as in some cases he may reach $100, but it’s very much worth it! The Medicom RAH Venom action figure is available for ordering through priced at $99.
