Marvel Comics has signed a deal with BET for a primetime animated series based on The Black Panther. The series was announced at an upfront presentation in New York as the highlight of a batch of new shows being readied for the 2008-09 season.
The Black Panther series will center on the first black superhero T'Challa, a wise and just African warrior king who also happens to be technologically advanced.
The Black Panther was the first modern Black superhero in comics history. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in Fantastic Four vol. 1, #52 in July 1966.
