Throughout the years Robert Tonner and his talented team of artists at Tonner Dolls have created many spectacular collector dolls. Some of their best work has come from their new DC Stars line, "Character Figures" based on DC Comics' greatest heroes and villains. Wonder Woman is one fine example, Tonner delivering to fans a beautiful collectible of the Amazonian Warrior.

Box Logo.jpg

The box for this one is similar to the other Tonner dolls we have had the pleasure to review: all black with the DC Stars logo along the bottom. I have to say I really do love the simple design. But let’s be honest here, it’s not the box you care about, but what is INSIDE the box. Let's take a look...

Box interior exterior.jpg

Opening the box, you will find the doll shielded by tissue paper. Parting the paper and we find our beauty tied gently onto the box by ribbons. The doll’s feet are bundled together with bubble wrap, the hands covered in protective plastic and the head and styled saran hair are covered in a protective net. Wonder Woman is here and in pristine condition all thanks to Tonner's many packing safeguards.

Accessories in shipping packaging.jpg

The accessories are really a sight to behold once they are pulled from the interior of the box and spread out. Pulling them all from their baggies we find a beautiful set of golden earrings, a set of snap-on gauntlets, a pair of amazing wing tipped boots, a gorgeous golden eagle tiara and a two piece display stand.

Gauntlet off and on arm.jpg

The display stand arm connects to the base solidly and allows a bit of back and forth movement. The arm connects around the doll’s waist to hold her up. The pair of gauntlets look very nice. They are able to be attached to the doll’s arms by three small snaps. Putting them on the arm was a bit of a chore but once you get the first snap together the others follow suite easily.

boots.jpg

Wonder Woman's boots really help define her outfit. Sliding her feet into the boots was a tad tight at first, but after a bit of maneuvering I was able to get them in and the boots zipped up nice and snug. Once on, the boots look amazing. The look of them is very original, with their wing tips and top centered jewel. Their soles are solid and allow her to stand up quite well if you decide not to use the display stand.

Tiara off and on head.jpg

The golden eagle tiara seems a bit odd at first glance, appearing like it won't fit on her head. But fear not! On the rear of the tiara is a set of comb-like teeth that allow it to latch onto her hair. Once on, the tiara wraps nicely around the doll’s head and creates a very beautiful and striking image!

earring off and on head.jpg

Wonder Woman's earrings were something that proved to be a bit of a problem to attach. The doll’s head had small holes punctured in the earlobes and the earrings have a long piece that you push in, but it takes a bit of pressure and at one point I was sure I was going to break something. Once in place, the earrings hang nicely and frame her face very well.

Doll before accessories are on.jpg

Her body is just as beautiful and poseable as Poison Ivy. She has 13 points of articulation and stands 16 inches tall. The high-end details on the doll are a pleasure. Painted fingernails and toenails are what really set these dolls apart from everything else on the market, as do the clothes they wear.

Bustier site.jpg

This version of Wonder Woman comes dressed in an amazing Amazonian leather bodysuit topped with an eagle adorned breastplate. The breastplate is a work of art, and the eagle is sculpted with fine details such as the branches gripped in its mighty talons and the star that sits in the center of the eagle itself.

The leather bodysuit is nice from front to back as well. The bottom of the bodysuit is decorated with small, golden circles attached to pieces of the bodysuit. The pieces drape against the tops of the legs nicely.

Cape detail back.jpg

The amazing gold Lurex cape is also nice. The cape attaches to the top of the bodysuit by two small gold ringlets, and it can wrap around Wonder Woman quite easily.

face and hair.jpg

Moving to the head, you really begin to see, as I have stated before, the beauty and genius that the talent at Tonner possess. Wonder Woman’s face details are hand painted and hand sculpted. It is one of the most amazing and beautiful faces I have seen on a doll in some time! The bright, beautiful blue eyes give the doll a sense of innocence and danger. Looking at the face you get the feeling that there is kindness and fury both occupying the same space and it is phenomenal. The rooted saran hair is amazingly sculpted and curled. I am always amazed at just how soft the hair is to the touch even though it’s been styled this way.

I highly recommend Tonner's Wonder Woman. Sure, she is a doll, but she is such an amazing high-end collectible doll. A stunning representation of the iconic DC warrior, Tonner's Wonder Woman makes an attractive centerpiece to any superhero collection. You can purchase Wonder Woman directly from www.tonnerdirect.com, or from some of our amazing sponsors above. She retails for around $150.
