Over at Entertainment Weekly, they have broke the story that Sony is going forward with The Green Hornet which is being spearheaded by one Mr. Seth Rogan of Knocked Up fame and the star of the upcoming Pineapple Express!

While there is no Director attached to the picture, Rogan is currently working on the script with writing partner , Evan Goldberg (Superbad). The film is expected in theaters on June 25, 2010.

I'm not sure about this one gang. While Rogan is talented and seems like he really enjoys the character of Britt Reid (The Green Hornet) I hope that he doesn't end up playing the Hornet. If he sticks to writing the film and they cast someone else for the role it could be a great film. The real problem is there a audience out there for this film?

While The Spirit has Frank Miller attached and will have people interested because of the man behind the camera, Speed Racer was an awful mess of a film and failed at the Box Office. Will The Green Hornet follow the path of Speed, or will it be handled in a way that makes it a success? Only time and 2010 will tell!
