Special F/X and Makeup Maestro Stan Winston passed away at his home in Malibu surrounded by family on Sunday evening after a seven-year struggle with multiple myeloma.

Winston was a 4 time Oscar Winner for 1986's "Aliens," 1992's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and 1993's "Jurassic Park" as well as a makeup Oscar for 1992's "Batman Returns. He helped create the practical effects for Iron Man which included Stark's Armor and was working on the new Terminator film from Director McG, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

Stan Winston's career gave birth to some of films most amazing creatures, including The Predator, The Terminator and the physical representation of H.R. Giger's Alien for Aliens in 1986.

At the time of his death, Winston was was working with a team of senior effects supervisors to transform his physical makeup and effects studio into the new Winston Effects Group.

Stan was a god among film geeks, and was loved and respected by fans and peers alike. Our thoughts and prayers are with The Winston family.
