With a recent blockbuster movie and a massive story arc in the comic books, The Hulk has been receiving a lot of attention this year. And now Hasbro has added to that attention with the release of their Hulk line of Marvel Legends. The set tops off at eight figures, each packaged with a piece of the impressive 15” Fin Fang Foom. The retail for these figures is $14.99, which seems a bit pricey, but I can honestly say that these are the best Hulk figures I’ve ever seen.

Let’s take a look at the figures, starting with She-Hulk...

She Hulk 002.jpg

Jennifer Walters was a lawyer living a normal life. The only thing that set her apart was her cousin was Dr. Bruce Banner. After being injured she received a blood transfusion from Bruce, and the gamma irradiated blood caused her to transform in the Savage She-Hulk! Jennifer has a greater control over her forms, going from human to She-Hulk, and vice versa, as needed. Though she does prefer her Hulk form she finds both useful, especially considering that as She-Hulk she has super-human strength, increased durability, and a healing factor.

She Hulk 006.jpg

She-Hulk comes dressed in a white, torn dress reminiscent of her fist cover appearance. The dress is a removable, real cloth dress with molded white underclothes. Her hair is dark green, completely wild and her face indicates that someone has made her angry. She has about 26 points of articulation on her, and she stands at about 6” tall. Her body is well balanced and capable of many different poses. She comes packaged with the head and neck of Fin Fang Foom.

Wendigo 001.jpg

The Wendigo has had many hosts through the years, and has always been a thorn in the side of heroes like the Hulk, Alpha Flight and Wolverine. These and many other heroes have had to fight off the cursed humans possessed by the spirit of Wendigo, which is not an easy task considering its strength nearly matches that of The Hulk!

Wendigo 006.jpg

Wendigo stands about 8” and is a pretty bulky figure. He has gray colored “fur” and a detachable tail that helps to keep him standing. His dark red eyes and gaping jaws compliment his claws and massive size, showing that whoever he comes across will probably regret it. He has about 29 points of articulation, and is packaged with the right wing and arm of Fin Fang Foom.

End Hulk 001.jpg

The End Hulk inspired by the comic book series called Hulk: The End, which gives a glimpse of a future where everyone on the planet has been killed by an incredibly violent nuclear holocaust. In the book, Banner and the Hulk still share the same body and they both still see things a little differently. While Hulk wants to be the most powerful creature alive, Banner simply wants to die. Hulk wanders the world with a camera to record the events that have happened and realizes that he truly is alone.

End Hulk 005.jpg

The End Hulk is approximately 7” in size and his faces reads like he may have a touch of insanity in him. His body is a darker green than the Hulk usually has, but there are parts of the body that have battle damage from mutated cockroaches (check out the book to see what I mean). He is molded wearing a brown cloth as his only clothing which is attached. He comes packaged with the left wing and arm of Fin Fang Foom.

Skaar 005.jpg

Skaar is the son of Hulk and Queen Caiera from the planet Sakaar, Skaar’s mother was killed in the explosion of Hulks spacecraft which was a failsafe device placed there by The Illuminati. Hulks wife was pregnant when she was killed, and even though her body turned to dust a cocoon fell from the dust and landed in a lake of fire. Hulk, thinking both mother and son had perished rushed back to Earth with an army of followers hoping to gain his revenge. Skaar’s body emerged from the lake of fire, and rapidly aged to become a man who shared his father’s abilities, as well as harnessing the powers of the planet to harden his body.

Skaar 008.jpg

Skaar is 7” in height and is one of the highlights of the set. He has long, dark gray hair that falls around his neck. Skaar’s right arm is wrapped with a brown strap holding a metal armguard in place. His “leather” cloth is brown plastic with metal attachments. A sword in sheath (no removable sword) is detachable from the side of his cloth. His boots are brown they support metal shin guards. Skaar’s body is a lighter green than his father’s, and has tattoos on his right arm, upper back, and chest, though the design is just lines. He has a sword that looks like a jagged piece of metal on a handle. He comes packaged with the torso of Fin Fang Foom.

King Hulk 006.jpg

King Hulk was asked to help save the world from an outer space threat, which he did. But then he was betrayed by the Illuminati who forced the behemoth into deeper space fearing the Hulk may one day be uncontrollable. He landed on the planet Sakaar where he advanced through the rank of warriors until he defeated the corrupt Red King and became King himself. King Hulk, upon losing his queen to an explosion, set his sights on Earth. New York became a battleground and after much fighting and the destruction of virtually everything, Hulk asked Iron Man to stop him.

King Kulk 004.jpg

King Hulk is 7” of anger and torment. He has 27 points of articulation and stands nicely on most surfaces. He comes with a war axe and a sword. He has a brown “leather” belt around his chest, with his left arm wrapped in “metal” armor. He wears gladiator style brown “leather” boots with spikes and trunks. King Hulk comes with the tail piece to Fin Fang Foom.

Doc 008.jpg

Dr.Leonard Samson was a psychiatrist that wanted to help Bruce Banner from becoming the Hulk. The theory was to drain excess radiation and gamma particles of the Hulk as he transformed. It actually worked and the Hulk was unable to transform for a long time. But Samson was driven by scientific curiosity that led him to douse himself with the contained energy and thus transformed the doctor into the green haired, muscle-bound Doc Samson. Along with endurance and durability, Samson has strength proportionate to the length of his hair.

Doc 001.jpg

Doc Samson stands 7” and one of the more colorful characters in the set. He has shoulder length green hair, eyebrows and eyes. He is wearing a red shirt with a yellow lightning bolt across his chest. A yellow belt is around his waist and he wears black pants with red stripes on the side. Knee high, yellow boots cover his feet. Doc Samson is packaged with the lower body and the bulk of the tail.

Gray Hulk 006.jpg

Savage Gray Hulk-A.K.A. Mr. Fixit, was the first incarnation of the Hulk to have smarts. When the sunset, Banner would emerge as a slightly weaker version of the green powerhouse, but would get stronger as he got angrier. More of the intelligence of Banner had remained with Gray Hulk, and this version proved to be more cunning. After awhile, having two raging Hulks inside his mind prompted him to seek help, and Dr. Samson was able to get Banner straight by making him confront his inner demons.

Gray Hulk 007.jpg

Savage Gray Hulk is 7” vertically and is completely gray (go figure!). He has a Moe haircut with the usual Hulk “mean face”. Mr. Fixit has 26 points of articulation and is probably the most well balanced of all the figures in the set.

Absorbing 008.jpg

Carl “Crusher” Creel was a petty thief and bank robber. After being incarcerated, the god of mischief, Loki, enchanted Creel with the ability to transform into any material he touched, be it metal, steel, and even, at a point, Thor’s hammer. Creel has a prison ball as a weapon, which also changes into whatever properties Creel touches. Both Thor and the Hulk have beaten Creel multiple times but he just keeps coming back for more punishment.

Absorbing 003.jpg

Absorbing Man is 7” from the ground up. The left half of his body is transformed into stone, his left leg has transformed into brick and the right side shows him in his prison clothes. He is one of the few characters that come with an accessory. Crusher’s prison ball on a chain can go in either hand and it really looks great when you pose him.

Foom 004.jpg

Fin Fang Foom is one of the most powerful members of an alien race that comes to earth in hopes of conquering all and is a force to be reckoned with. His size, which has reached over one hundred feet tall in the past, has been a formidable foe for the Fantastic Four and Iron Man. Often manipulated into wreaking havoc for others, Fin Fang Foom mostly sleeps. But when awakened, he will use his super strength, flight capabilities, high durability and fire breathing to lay waste to those who stand in his way.

Foom 009.jpg

He stands 15” tall. I know I need to say more but that cinched it for me. He has almost entirely green scales, aside from his yellow nails, yellow horns and red eyes which make him look like the typical Chinese dragon. 30 points of articulation make Foom not just the tallest but also the the most poseable. You don’t really appreciate these figures until you’ve built this guy. I can just picture letting him try to eat my Robert Downey Jr…err…I mean, my Tony Stark figure.

This series proved difficult to complete but is really nice to have. This is my first full BAF and an impressive one at that. If you can track them all down I recommend you do so, as you will not be disappointed. I sure wasn’t!
