When browsing for new toys to add to your collection, it is easy to see that the designer toy phenomenon is in full force. The stylized vinyl figures seem to be popping up from every company, and are based on just about any popular or obscure character you could think of. DC Direct has decided to join in on the fun with their Uni-Formz line up vinyl designer toys!

Hot on the heels of the Uni-Formz Batman comes the man of steel himself: Superman!

Classic Superman comes packaged in a large, 4-color window box. The Uni-Forms logo is emblazoned across the front in an eye catching metallic silver. The window on the front and top of the box allow you a peek inside at the toy itself. Fantastic artwork based on the style of the figure stretches across the box, while a look at the other Superman figures available in this line is pictured on the back.

It’s a nice packaging design, but this figure absolutely must be removed from his plastic and cardboard prison. Pulling him out gives you an amazing look at the wonderful sculpt of this unique toy.

Superman stands at a whopping 8 inches tall, and features an impressive 12 points of articulation; something you don’t always see on designer vinyl toys like this. Articulated joints can be found on his ankles, legs, arms, hands, forearms, and neck. While he isn’t super-poseable by any means, it does allow you for a small array of movement for posing. One thing to note is that the cape is made of a pretty solid plastic, and will hinder the movement of the legs and arms just a tad. It’s not terrible, though.

There aren’t many poses you’re going to get out of him, but a figure like this isn’t meant to be played with anyway. It’s perfect for finding a cool pose to have him standing in while hanging out on your shelf for display.

The colors are bright and vibrant, and very crisp and clean. He does a great job of bringing together that classic Superman costume look! The sculpt is incredibly impressive. The design is just so unique that you can’t help but love this guy. The design of the face is probably my favorite part. With the squinted eyes, it just really gives off that retro 30’s look. DC Direct has managed to take a cool, classic look of Superman from the past and perfectly meld it with a modern toy design; and it really works!

If you’re really in to the stylized urban vinyl scene, then I would definitely recommend checking out DC Direct’s line if Uni-Formz. Coming from a collector who just hasn’t been too fond of many of these types of toys, I can honestly tell you that this is probably my favorite style of designer toy I have had the pleasure of reviewing. The structure is very sturdy, and the design is just so cool. If you’re a Superman fan, then you would definitely enjoy adding this piece to your collection.
